GEDS participants already holding a Masters degree can upgrade to a PhD.

Applications have a non-refundable deposit of £100 which will be applied toward the program fee. Only complete applications will be accepted and processed.

About the Masters / PhDs
The Ubiquity MA/PhD combines the US and European designs of Master’s programmes with a blend of taught learning with research and writing. The Master’s thesis or PhD dissertation must demonstrate excellence at every level. It must show awareness of the history of the literature in your particular area; demonstrate careful analysis and understanding of the field in question; and, most importantly, show how your insight can be applied to the real world. The thesis/dissertation must be scholarly and utilize extensive bibliographical data and footnotes. It should, in other words, be an impeccable work of research.
Here are the answers to Ubiquity University’s most frequently asked questions
Eligibility criteria:
- Complete at least four dimensions of the GEDS (Gaia Education Design for Sustainability)
- Possess a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university of college
- Possess a Master's Degree if you are applying for the Ph.D. option
- English language proficiency at university/college level
The Design for Sustainability Masters Degree consists of the following 4 stages:
- Creative Journey To Dissertation course (Ubiquity Unversity, 1-week online intensive)
- Full GEDS programme, minus Design Studio (Gaia Education, 9 months online)
- Select a Major Advisor to support you through your dissertation (Gaia Education advisors, Masters Advisors, PhD Advisors)
- Complete your dissertation.
Stage 1 and 2 can exchange the order if needed.
For the Design For Sustainability PhD:
- Complete the Masters Degree requirements, above, plus two more core courses with Ubiquity:
- The Chartres Pilgrimage (virtual or in-person)
- The Great Books OR Foundation in Soft Skills course.
